Aspirin vs. Breast Cancer

An article from Doctor's Guide titled, Aspirin May Protect Against Breast Cancer and Benefit Existing Patients, cited a report in the International Journal of Clinical Practice which noted that aspirin may both prevent the onset of breast cancer and provide benefits to patients who already have the disease.

A 20% reduction in the incidence of breast cancer was a figure obtained as a result of recent studies. However further research is needed to determine optimal dosage. Side effects have not yet been adaquately studied. Some side effects of aspirin useage are already known. They include gastrointestinal bleeding and perforation. Prior studies indicating that aspirin may confer protection against bowel cancer were also noted in the article.
